Shining the Spotlight on Great Leadership
Charleston Elementary – Allison Boling
For 2014, I had my class make new academic goals and personal goals. One of my students, MaKenzie, had a personal goal of running her 1st 5K race. We decided that since we both had this as a personal goal, we would run one together. We ran the 65 Roses Race for Cystic Fibrosis at Lee University.
Prospect Elementary – Michelle Dunkle
Students from The Prospect Elementary Leadership Crew spent the day at Camp Living Stones to work on communications and team unity. Students completed a low-ropes course and discussed the importance of leadership in every aspect of life and how they could incorporate these skills in the school setting. It was a challenging day but a rewarding day and a day of growth in the area of LEADERSHIP!
Prospect Elementary – Jayne Taylor
The Tech Team members at Prospect Elementary, under the direction of Jayne Taylor, are high performers on TCAP and responsible citizens. The team takes pictures of school events (with iPads). They operate the Public Address system to serve as support for Chorus. They also help set up and photograph the Chorus performances. They recorded much of the video and pictures used in the Christmas video of teachers. After the holidays, they will be learning to use flip cams and video editing software to make movies. Their work will also be featured in the graduation video.
Hopewell Elementary - Jenne Wilson
As part of the Leadership program at Hopewell, teachers nominate a student from their class who demonstrates very strong leadership skills each month. The nominated students are taken on a special luncheon by the school counselor. Hopewell's church partner, Candies Creek Church, hosts the luncheon. The students are served pizza, pasta and brownies each month. While eating their lunch, the students see a video about leadership skills. After a great lunch, the students are then taken to the church playground to play and have a good time. Parents and guardians are always encouraged to attend as well.
